What She Didn't Know by Shannon Smith

Girl meets boy,
And that's the beginning of our story.
She fell for him,
He fell for her,
But what the both never knew,
Was that it would all end in hurt.
Nothing ever turned out right,
No matter how much they tried and tried.
Nothing ever turned out right,
Because he could never make up his mind.
'A tough choice' was what he claimed it to be;
But soon he lost all company.
Not just the feeling of his arm over her at night,
But also everything that kept him warm, safe, and tight.
Six months went by,
And soon he had had enough;
But what she didn't know,
Was that he had it real rough.
One year later,
Boy meets girl,
Girl meets boy.
He convinced her that he had changed,
But she wouldn't fall for another one of his lies.
He tried to get her back,
But she wasn't good enough to mask the pain in her eyes.
He thought she was kidding,
That it all might've been a joke;
But what she didn't know,
Was that he was really about to
Choke.

Writing by Shannon Smith

My old, sharp pencil,
Finds its way across paper-
Writing is strange.
Oh, no! Big mistake,
Eraser must fix it all-
Continue on work.
Words create pictures,
They dance around in our heads-
Then they disappear.
After exhaustion,
No ideas come to my brain-
Writer's Block is hell.
All inspiration,
Please return fast to my head-
I need you right now.
Something save me,
Give me topics to express-
I have feelings, too.
I'm just a writer,
Just an ordinary one-
One that needs to write.

Just Like the Boy With the Bread by Shannon Smith

He's slipping away from her,
And slowly you are from me.
I can't let this happen,
Someone needs to make you see.
See the light in your eyes,
And how they steal the shine from mine.
I'm holding on tight,
But I'm not sure how much longer I'll last-
Think of all the times we've had in the past.
You're just like him,
And I'm just like her.
And sooner than expected,
Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me.

Where Does She Run? by Shannon Smith

Do you notice the pain in her eyes,
Or how she hasn't flashed a smile in a while?
She's getting smaller, inside and out-
Nobody can get her to erase the pout.
The pout that's everpresent on her face,
Never leaving.
So tell her, prettyboy,
Where does she run, when she's locked and alone?
Or unsafe and cold?
Where does she run, when the ones she trusted the most have left her?
Or when she's trapped and hurt?
Seems like she's got nothing left,
Like she's only heading for a cliff.
Are you going to save her ?
You were her "Prince Charming", after all.
No? I didn't think so.
If you're not there, then
Where does she run?
Where can she hide?
Where does she run?

Time of Your Life by Shannon Smith

Why do you always screw me over,
Why do you let nothing come easy?
Why do you never tell me the truth,
Why do you always try to make me move?
I don't know what our past friendship has meant to you,
But now we're tearing it apart,
Looking like fools.
I can't say this is easy,
But then again it's not hard.
For one time in my life,
This decision will hopefully be smart.
You can go burn our photographs,
And get rid of the pictures in your mind.
I don't care anymore,
I'm leaving you behind.
This is the end,
That also means goodbye.
Our game is over, so
I hope you had the time of your life.

Lies by Shannon Smith

I look into your brown eyes,
And all I see is lies-
Big, Chocolate brown lies,
Resting there in your Big, Chocolate brown eyes.
You sit so innocently,
Never did anything wrong.
Everybody's fooled,
And it's been like that all along.
Ever since you came into my life,
You always added a little spice.
Make up your mind on how you feel-
If you can't, then bad news-
Your heart may never heal.
It takes a lot to get over someone, I understand..
All I'm asking is to hold your hand.
I guess this is alright, we know you want her more,
And play it right, you might get her-
She's a whore.
If you're gonna play games, let me know the rules.
You most likely win, I'll probably lose.
But playing with smart ol' me,
You're bound to cheat.
You've got decieving looks,
And eyes anybody would want.
Too bad what the chasers don't know
Is that all you truly do is haunt.
So go play your games, I don't give a damn,
Not anymore, at least, I'm more of a man.
Go get 'em, hunter, I'll just sit here and sigh-
Pitying the girls who're falling for your lie.
We almost had our time, and there's one thing I'll remember-
Big, Chocolate brown lies,
Are the only things resting
In your Big, Chocolate Brown eyes.

You Don't Know Me by Shannon Smith

You say you know me,
When in reality you don't.
You say there's so much you'll show me,
When in reality you won't.
Always saying you know all my secrets,
And that you know everything about my life-
I can't believe that for a point in time I let you be my 'wife'.
No, I'm not turning my back on you-
No, that's not what I'm saying.
All I'm asking you for is a little freedom,
A little... Me Time, if you will.
Stop acting like you know what's coming,
Coming out of my mouth next.
You don't know the pain I feel,
Or the little joys that sometimes find my mind.
I know I say things I don't mean,
But take me for real when I say "The end".
You say you know him, and you know her.
But most importantly, no matter what you think,
You DON'T know me.
